1. Well you never know what to expect when you first meet your significant others parents. I guess you can base it off your significant other but you really never know you could get the straight edge serious parents or you could get the polar opposite clown parents so you don't know exactly how to act around them, what you should say and shouldn't say. It reminds me of having a first at first it's going to be awkward but once you get past that it should be smooth sailing. It's such a weird occurance they we all have to go to that its natural histarity is not a hard or a difficult transition.
2. Greg and Kevin are a two foils because on one hand you have the highly successful almost ideal guy who just seems to have his head in the clouds while Greg although successful in his profession seems to be an under achiever and doesn't live up to Jack's ideal standards, he lies, he's a male nurse and is just inherently awkward. Another pair of foils is again Greg and Jack the father. Their qualities bounce off each other because Greg seems to always be seeking Jack‘s approval but always seems to mess up his shot. Greg even starts off on bad terms with him because after maybe 5 minutes of being there Jack expresses how much he loves his cat and Greg’s girlfriend is quick to say that Greg hates cats, so it seemed their relationship was doomed from the start. Jack’s character is very judgmental and is seems short tempered. Jack over analyzes Greg and forces his bad qualities out of him while if Jack had given Greg more of benefit of the doubt their relationship may not have been so self-destructive. However the constant struggle for approval from Jack that Greg seeks makes there interactions hilarious.
3. Well DeNiro still keeps his badass persona you know with his former job being a member of CIA so there’s always that eerie feeling that you know he could have you killed at any moment. However in this role he has to be compassionate and a family man because of his daughter, wife, and cat there must be a softer friendlier side to DeNiro.
4. The juxtaposition of Greg and the Byrnes family is interesting because as we see Greg obviously didn’t come from the same type of upper class prestigious family that the Byrnes are. As we learn in the later movies the odd family the Fockers are it seems kind fitting that the two are paired together because it shows the extreme differences between a conservative family like the Byrnes to the wild family like the  Fockers shows how two completely different families can come together.
5. Kevin adds the dynamic as a former fiancĂ© and adds that little extra needed to push Greg into a state of anxiety because not only is he dealing with the anxiety of the father but he also has to have the fear of the rekindling of the ex as all boyfriends do and the guys perfect so it’s just another dynamic to mess with Greg.

Part 2 of 3/8/12 assgnment

Pathos- “I cannot sit idly by in Atlanta and not be concerned about what happens in Birmingham.”

Ethos- “I have the honor of serving as president of the Southern Christian Leadership Conference, an organization operating in every southern state, with headquarters in Atlanta, Georgia.”

Logos- “But more basically, I am in Birmingham because injustice is here.”

“In any nonviolent campaign there are four basic steps: collection of the facts to determine whether injustices exist; negotiation; self purification; and direct action.”

Paragraph analysis of Kiss and tell

The familar situation of an awkard moment between a child an their parents is at it's finest in the excerpt kiss aand tell. A premier topic being used in the excerpt is Irony. Irony is shown in a few situations like how you assume that the couple is argumentative and but in reality they are quite content with each other. Another moment is when you expect the father to try and take a look at the boyfriend but yet he seems disinterested in them and instead fixtrated on a lightbulb. A final thing I recognzied is when you expect the father to be more intresting considerring he jst embarrassed himself in front of a theatre crowd but yet appears quite nerdy and distant. We all deal with these unavoidable parental awkward moments and this is just a classic example.

Suburban/Naked Lunch thesis

The humor in suburban is displayed within the simplistic irony, neighborly point of view, and subtle sarcasm to portray the idea of neighborhood camaraderie in a humourous way.

Naked lunch shows it's humourous qualities through timid symolism, aggresive irony, and situational irony to show how even the simplest of things such as the defiance to eat meat can describe how an entire relationship went.
